Contact me to discuss the manufacturing of optical components with challenging requirements or for application in harsh environments. Together with my colleagues from the Centre for Optics Manufacturing (COM), I can advise you about the right balance between performance and cost.

TNO-COM’s role is to supply the specialised, high-end components to internal projects related to Space & Scientific Instrumentation and Semicon & Quantum. We also support external projects for academia and a variety of industries, including chemical, medical, solar energy, space and technology.

I seek to apply TNO expertise in the manufacturing of ultra-high performance optical components to enable, for example, satellite instruments for air quality measurements, equipment for the semiconductor industry and industrial measurement systems.

At the TNO-COM, we are convinced that taking optics manufacturing aspects into account early in the integral instrument design process results in higher system performance and lower costs. This in contrast to the common approach of defining optical components when the design is almost finished, at which time changes to improve manufacturability can no longer be made easily.

TNO-COM manufactures and tests optical components with high shape accuracy, low roughness and project-specific coatings. We specialise in the production of single components up to a series of a few dozen. We not only manufacture optical components, we also advise our customers on manufacturability and cost during the design phase of an instrument. In this way, we help our customers optimise the performance and manage the costs of their instruments.
