Eleni Charoniti
Hello, I'm Eleni Charoniti, mobility researcher in the department of Sustainable Urban Mobility and Safety (SUMS). You can reach me for questions about travel behaviour, road safety and "green" mobility.
Eleni Charoniti is a Mobility Scientist at TNO. In this function, she does research on what influences people making travel-related choices. The main drivers of Eleni are a broad interest in sustainable mobility, and the complexity of human behaviour.
Right after finishing her MSc Transportation and Traffic Management and planning in 2013, from the National Technical University of Athens, she started her PhD on travel behaviour under uncertainty, dealing with advanced discrete choice modelling for route decision making.
Later, she worked several months as a Mobility Advisor which made a nice entry to TNO and the applied research field. Within SUMS, she belongs to the team IMPACT, while she is also a member of the internal knowledge team.
She can well identify the missing information for valuable research and she got the chance to collect interesting data after winning one of TNO’s Dragons Den to work on the SATA project. She enjoys the freedom within TNO and the flexibility to work with so many different experts, therefore she is often involved in projects with colleagues from other departments and units.
