Stephan Slingerland
Dr Stephan Slingerland is a senior researcher at TNO and works within the research group Energy Transition Studies (ETS) on social innovation, socio-technological system analysis and system change for sustainability.
Within TNO he focuses on the topic of New Economies, including projects on the 'beyond growth' debate and policy for reducing scope 3 climate emissions ('chain emissions '). Stephan is a guest researcher at the Vrije Universiteit and previously worked as a consultant and director of SPA Sustainability, as a researcher at the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency and at the Clingendael Institute for International Relations. He was trained as an interdisciplinary environmental researcher at the universities of Leiden, Cambridge, and Amsterdam. In 1999 he received his PhD from the University of Amsterdam, with a thesis on environmentally friendly organizational structures for the electricity sector.
