Want to make your mark on our time? Become a Innovation Orchestrator at TNO in Enschede!

About this position

Shape the future of bio and microsystems technology by spearheading a cutting-edge research initiative. Join us as an Innovation Orchestrator at the Bio/MicroSystems Centre (B/MSC) on the University of Twente campus in Enschede. The University of Twente (UT) and TNO have expressed their intention to intensify their collaboration on specific topics. The organizations have assessed collaborative topics for internationally distinctive joint research initiatives – fitting the strengths of the Twente region and meeting the interest of industry - from which scalable solutions for technologies at the interface of biology and microtechnology have been identified as a key topic. Therefore, in 2024 the organizations want to start with a joint initiative on this topic, referred to as Bio/Microsystems Centre (B/MSC) with a physical location at the UT campus in Enschede. B/MSC aims to bring together competences from biology and microsystems manufacturing by co-locating researchers with different backgrounds at the UT campus. The joint activities will focus on accelerating the development of enabling technologies and advanced Organ-on-Chip applications for drug development and toxicity testing to contribute to a healthier and safer world. In order to effectively start shaping the strategy and the collaborative activities between UT and TNO at the UT campus, TNO is looking for an experienced Innovation Orchestrator.

In this role, you will:

  • Take the lead in organizing an effective collaboration structure embedding TNO and the B/MSC collaboration in the campus ecosystem and aligning development activities with mother organizations.
  • Co-develop the plans for the B/MSC culminating in specific project plans for the collaborative R&D between UT, TNO and the external stakeholders.
  • Attract and secure specific (project-based) funding for the realization of the growth ambitions of TNO and B/MSC.
  • Co-develop a sustainable long-term strategy B/MSC, expanding its financial and program portfolio.

You will be employed by TNO with your primary office located at the University of Twente (Enschede), initially for a period of two years, to initiate the joint activities under Bio/Microsystems Centre, but with the prospect of a long-term role in this initiative.
