Process Engineer 'Assembly and Interconnection Technology' | Eindhoven
Want to make your mark on our time? Become a Process Engineer at TNO in Eindhoven!
About this position
Holst Centre is a research and innovation partner specialized in health technologies, flexible and wireless electronics, powered by the shared expertise of imec and TNO. Our partners rely on us to find innovative solutions that improve people’s lives and contribute to solving global societal challenges. Holst Centre has a strong team of researchers and engineers supporting industry by developing the next generation of electronics. The printed electronics activities are enabling exciting, extremely thin, stretchable or 3D printed electronic products that will address pressing challenges in the field of wearables (clothes, patches), medical (instrumentation, in-body devices) and automotive (Human machine interface, lighting) fields. Many of these devices are hybrid in nature as they require a combination of ‘printed’ functionality with more traditional components like chips and LEDs. Integrating such components without compromising the thinness, flexibility and sometimes stretchability of the devices is a challenging task that requires a good understanding of materials, processes and design. We are currently looking for a process engineer to strengthen the team that is working on solving these. You will be working at the interface of materials science, process technology and microelectronics in a multidisciplinary research environment, together with industry.
What will be your role?
- Develop interconnect and assembly processes for a next generation of 2D and 3D printed electronics products;
- Be involved with your expertise in adjacent activities at Holst Centre, in particular integrated photonics;
- Participate with expertise and take responsibility in ongoing collaborative projects with international customers;
- Interact with our industrial partners and customers on a day-to-day basis, providing insights and fostering strong relationships.
What we expect from you
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Materials Science;
- Experience (5-10 years) in microelectronics and/or assembly and interconnection technology, preferably knowledgeable with adhesive-based interconnects or low temperature soldering;
- Experience in printed electronics will be highly advantageous;
- A proactive, hands-on approach, capable of organizing and conducting practical work efficiently and collaboratively;
- Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
What you'll get in return
Challenging and varied work with a real impact. And plenty of opportunities as, at TNO, you are in charge of shaping your career. In addition, you will be given every opportunity to develop yourself.
