Business Developer Carbon Capture Storage and Utilisation | Rijswijk

Want to make your mark on our time? Become a Business Developer Carbon Capture Storage and Utilisation at TNO in Rijswijk!

About this position

As a business developer, you will work on developing and marketing new value propositions. With TNO's wide range of technical disciplines, system knowledge, and experience, you will support companies, industrial clusters, and institutions in the transition from fossil to sustainable material and energy management. Working closely with partners and colleagues, we give advice, develop business cases, and create a portfolio to turn research and technology into practical applications for the wider West-European energy system. We do so both in business-to-business projects and in collaborations with consortia, and also where public-private partnerships are involved.

What will be your role?

You will develop projects and programmes that focus on developing the circular carbon economy. The focus here is on carbon capture and storage (CCS), and conversion of CO2 to fuels and chemicals (carbon capture and utilisation (CCU)). You will work with the scientists and engineers to find out where advances in research can be used in practice. In this way, we join forces to solve challenges faced by industry. You will also be involved in expanding TNO's industry and partner network, and you will support management in developing and validating the portfolio of technology propositions.

As a business developer, you will work in a broad field of process, chemical and energy sciences.

What we expect from you

With your industry experience and associated network, you understand the value of new technology options and know how we can solve the challenges of implementing these new technologies in a broad ecosystem. You enjoy working in a multidisciplinary, international, and gender-balanced team. You have an open mind and are keen to learn from your colleagues and share knowledge within the team. You are able to think from the point of view of clients and jointly identify the potential of technology. You combine this with skills in negotiation, networking, and collaborative learning. You have critical thinking skills and the ability to learn new technologies quickly. You are used to working in a project-oriented environment, allowing you to quickly adapt to different contexts.

Our ideal candidate has/is:

  • At least an MSc degree in, for example, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Process Technology;
  • 5+ years' experience in a similar position;
  • Demonstrable experience in business-to-business project development, building public-private partnerships;
  • Able to develop new propositions and sell "industry firsts";
  • Experience with the full range of business development processes (from gathering initial market insights to closing deals);
  • Fluent in Dutch and English;
  • French, German, or Spanish are a plus.

What you'll get in return

Challenging and varied work with a real impact. And plenty of opportunities as, at TNO, you are in charge of shaping your career. We offer a gross monthly salary between €6.378,- and €8.216,- (based on your knowledge and experience), 8% holiday pay, a 13th month bonus of 8.33% and a flex budget (5.58% + € 180). In addition, you will be given every opportunity to develop yourself.

TNO offers optional employee benefits, enabling you to tailor your benefits package to match your personal situation. You may also expect:
