Medior Scientist Integrator RF Technology | The Hague

This is our time! Become a timesetter and shape the future of sustainable energy and wireless tech. Join TNO’s innovative projects that make a real impact on offshore wind platforms and beyond.

About this position

Are you eager to contribute to the future of sustainable energy and communication? Do you have a passion for wireless technology and want to apply it in exciting projects with real impact? At TNO, we offer you the opportunity to use your expertise within an ambitious team that works closely with Rijkswaterstaat (RWS) on groundbreaking innovations for offshore wind platforms. This project is just the beginning—your role will include other innovative projects, keeping you challenged and inspired.

What will be your role?

As a Medior Scientist Integrator, you will work on a long-term project that focuses on wireless communication and radar for offshore wind platforms. Your daily tasks will be a combination of hands-on work and collaborating with your colleagues. Think about performing simulations, designing new communication systems, and conducting measurements that directly enhance the safety of these installations.
The project team you’ll be part of is a closely-knitted one , meaning there’s plenty of room for learning from each other. While each team member has their own expertise, close collaboration is key, creating a dynamic environment where creativity and innovation take center stage.
Although this position starts with an exciting focus on the RWS project, you’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to other cutting-edge TNO projects in the future. Whether it's improving wireless communication systems for maritime applications, or working on entirely different innovations, your work will always be evolving.

What does your day look like?
No day is the same, but imagine this: you start the day with a team meeting where you review the planning and discuss the tasks for the coming days. Then, you dive into your computer to analyze the results of a recent simulation. Together with a colleague, you discuss the findings and take the first steps toward designing a new antenna concept which meets specific communication goals.

In the afternoon, you head to the lab to set up the measuring equipment for a small measurement campaign. During a recent campaign on a platform EM anomalies were discovered and you look for methods and solutions to mitigate them. This may include designing dedicated hard- and software in order to perform measurements. As you carry out the tests, you’re already thinking ahead about the next steps: what needs to be optimized, and which simulations will you need to run next?
At the end of the day, you spend some time refining the Python code you wrote for signal processing. You’re on the verge of making an important breakthrough, and your contribution will be key in this success.

And once the RWS project reaches its goals, you’ll seamlessly transition to other impactful projects within TNO, ensuring you stay challenged and continue making a difference with your expertise.
