Operational purchasing employee
Want to make your mark on our time? Become a Operational purchasing employee at TNO in The Hague!
About this position
At TNO, you work in an environment where scientific research and practical applications intersect. One example is solutions for reusing industrial heat to accelerate the energy transition. Together with public authorities, universities, hospitals, and industry, among others, we contribute to the world of tomorrow. We carry out public tasks as well as commercial activities, which produce interesting and unique issues. With your up-to-date knowledge and fresh insights, you support the innovative power of our entire organisation as an Operational Procurement Officer.
What will be your role?
As an Operational Procurement Officer, you will be working with the team of around 10 colleagues that is responsible for providing efficient support to the administrative ordering process. You will assess procurement requests submitted to the team through the ordering system (Ariba) and support the TNO organisation by answering queries about the procurement process. The team is also responsible for registering procurement contracts, creating new suppliers in the various systems, and you will provide support in handling price and/or quantity differences.
The Operational Procurement department is going through an evolution from data processing to a more advisory role in relation to internal staff placing orders. This means that work is currently under way on optimising processes to enable the team to perform this advisory role more fully. The recent implementation of a non-ERP (SAP S4-Hana) and procurement system (Ariba) requires the team to provide extra attention and support to in-house TNO colleagues.
What we expect from you
Together with the team, you will be responsible for the daily processing of all procurement requests. You will review requests and forward them to budget holders for approval, so that the purchase order can be sent to the supplier. You will support the monitoring of delivery times and liaise with suppliers in case of delays, ambiguities, or other issues.
In addition, you are a pragmatic, proactive, and assertive colleague who enjoys being in contact with colleagues and suppliers. You are energised by guiding a procurement request and bringing it to a successful conclusion. With your client focus, flexibility, and efficient way of working, you provide the right support in this process.
You are also able to look critically at your own work and the processes within the team. You share your observations with the team and the Operational Procurement Coordinator, with the aim of further improving the quality of the process and the service to the organisation.
Other knowledge and skills you bring to TNO:
- A secondary vocational (MBO) degree.
- Good oral and written skills in Dutch and English.
- Experience with SAP S4 and/or Ariba is a plus.
