What will be your role?

Within the TNO unit ICT, Strategy and Policy (ISP) we are looking for a Senior Business Developer (Fast Open Digital Infrastructures) to develop research, innovation and advisory projects based on a broad interest and knowledge of cutting edge digital network infrastructure and cloud technologies. In this role you will also be responsible for selling them on to existing and new clients. 

Our unit ISP works predominantly in the following areas: Fast Open Digital Infrastructures, Data Sharing and AI, and Trusted ICT. A team of Business Developers and Sales Support are responsible for establishing a promising tender/proposal pipeline and convert the right opportunities to a successfully won project portfolio. Besides the private sector we work closely with the Dutch government to further enhance their responsible digital transformation. With our contribution we make the Dutch economy and society safer, more resilient and successful. We make sure that the right questions are addressed and through thorough. With our integrated research we offer innovative solutions to these challenges. 

The Senior Business Developer we are looking for will:

  • Identify, develop and convert opportunities, including public-private cooperations based on your knowledge and insight of the market. You will also play a key role in defining ISP’s commercial strategy with respect to contract research and large scale public private cooperations, TNO wide.
  • Manage complex, multi-stakeholder business development processes from initiation through consortia-forming and contract negotiations to after sales.
  • Identify and create platforms for innovative research programs and break-through projects within and outside of TNO.
  • Take care of communications and updates about your projects and areas of expertise within TNO – you make sure the right information is available when needed.
  • Take charge of arranging and coordinating funding and contracting processes with contributions of multiple parties, subsidies and public funds.

What we expect from you

  • You have an intrinsic interest in cutting edge digital network and cloud technologies. You are passionate about relationship building, thrive on expanding networks and have a keen eye for opportunities to develop further.
  • You have a completed higher educational degree and substantial demonstrable experience of successfully delivering complex, multi-stakeholder, research focused commercial projects within IT, network infrastructure and cloud technology.
  • You have extensive experience in setting up consortia or coalitions of the willing and know your way around the different financing instruments in the Dutch innovation landscape.
  • You have gained experience in working with (regional, national and EI) Public Private Partnership funding instruments.
  • You are a versatile communicator and can apply different negotiating styles to secure a positive outcome. You are fluent in Dutch (at least B2 level) and have excellent English skills.
  • You build resilient and authentic relationships not just in a private but also in a public and research focused setting.
  • You have experience in consultative selling, preferably in a public private setting.

The selection process

Please apply before the 27th of September, 2024. The selection process comprises two interview rounds. In a final meeting we will discuss the terms of employment and your tailored benefits package. We aim to finalize the entire process within four weeks.

The selection process may include an online assessment and a reference check.
