Project Excellence Manager | The Hague
Ready to leave your mark on our time? Join TNO as a Project Excellence Manager in The Hague!
About this position
"Preach what you’ve been practicing." As a Project Excellence Manager, you'll have the opportunity to strengthen project management within TNO. Your goal? Ensuring that TNO consistently delivers successful projects. You'll contribute to tangible improvements in project management, benefiting both project managers and the entire organization. This role offers you the chance to further develop your project management experience and expertise. We particularly encourage women to apply, to support the diversity and inclusion within our team.
What will be your role?
At TNO, almost all research is carried out through projects. To ensure these projects are executed successfully now and in the future, continuous attention is needed for strengthening and developing project management within TNO. The Operational Excellence & Auditing department has established a 'Project Excellence cell,' driving the strategic Project Excellence program.
As a Project Excellence Manager, you will be a sparring partner for everyone involved in projects, from project managers to the executive board. Based on our Project Fitness process, project evaluations, audits, and input from the Project Management community, you will identify structural issues and work with colleagues across the organization on tangible improvements. This could include strengthening risk management (including providing training), enhancing the organization's learning capabilities (focusing on behavioral and cultural change), documenting and improving our ways of working, and renewing our processes and tools (e.g., through the use of new technologies such as AI).
Additionally, you will support, coach, and guide project managers. You will assist the units in developing their pool of project managers and collaborate with HR and the PM Guild on development programs.
What we expect from you
As we said: preach what you practice. As a Project Excellence Manager, you’ll bring your experience as a project manager to this role. You’ll leverage your expertise and coaching skills to achieve the desired changes. Your TNO colleagues are your most important clients—how unique is that?
What else you bring:
- Experience: You have extensive project management experience, preferably with complex and innovative projects.
- Communication skills: You are skilled at communicating and influencing at all levels within the organization.
- Continuous improvement: You are driven to bring about improvements in an organization and have a desire for constant self-improvement and development.
- Language skills: You are fluent in both Dutch and English.
- Flexibility: You work well with your immediate colleagues and can adapt to changing circumstances.

We offer a gross monthly salary between € 4.500,- and € 7.400,- (based on your knowledge and experience), 8% holiday pay, a 13th month bonus of 8.33% and a flex budget (5.58% + € 180).
