Research Manager Solar Energy | Petten

Will you make your mark on the current era by increasing the amount of solar energy tenfold? Becoma a Research Manager Solar Energy at TNO in Petten.

What will be your role?

Introduction
Solar panels on the roof of your car to charge it with solar energy? Generating solar energy at sea, through windows, coloured façades, or on land? In the future, all this will be commonplace – thanks in part to you and your Solar Energy research group. Under your leadership, we’ll develop solutions for the successful integration of the next generation of solar cells and panels into our living environment and overburdened power grid. This is how you’ll help to quadruple the amount of solar energy by 2030 and even increase it tenfold by 2050. Onwards to a sustainable future!

What will your role be?
As a research manager in the Energy and Materials Transition (EMT) unit, you’ll lead the Solar Energy research group of around 40 professionals. Together, you’ll work on impactful R&D projects in the field of solar energy and its integration into our living environment and power grid. You’ll create a pleasant and motivating working environment where everyone can develop their talents. You’ll also help shape strategy, guide propositions, and inspire your colleagues.

As part of the management team of the Energy Supply division of the EMT unit, you’ll help set the course and goals for the division. You’ll mostly work from Petten, but you’ll regularly visit the Eindhoven and Rijswijk locations to foster cooperation with other TNO teams. And by working with industry and academia, you’ll ensure that our innovations meet the needs of society. You’ll also forge ties between your team and the rest of the division and contribute to the further development of our goals.

In addition, you’ll motivate your team with your genuine interest in both your team members’ work and in them as individuals. You’ll create a pleasant and inspiring working environment where everyone can be themselves and trust each other. You’ll also ensure that the high-tech infrastructure works efficiently and carefully monitor the progress of projects.

Other knowledge and skills you bring to TNO:

  • A background in the natural sciences or a related field.
  • Experience leading teams and fostering cooperation in a complex, high-tech R&D environment.
