About this position
As a Biomedical Research Technician in the Metabolic Health Research Department, you will collaborate in a variety of projects. These are mainly focused on (cell) biological issues, such as liver metabolism of drugs or intestinal absorption of drugs and food ingredients during disease and health. For this you work with various preclinical laboratory models (both in vitro and ex vivo) based on (stem) cells, organ tissues and/or whole organs and related analytical techniques. Research is carried out in a team of professionals in an open and informal culture.
What will be your role?
As a Biomedical Research Technician, your work mainly consist of:
- Preparing and performing experiments, using various techniques including tissue culture, cell culture (transfected cell lines, stem cells, spheroids/organoids, epithelial assays), organ perfusion systems, confocal fluorescence microscopy, qPCR, ELISA, etc).
- Analyze, elaborate and present experimental data, in good collaboration with the scientists and project leaders who are ultimately responsible for the projects.
- Advising and thinking along with scientists in the techniques to be used and in the design of procedures and methods of analysis.
- Keeping up with developments in the field and identifying new opportunities.
- Assurance of quality in the execution of work
What we expect from you
We are looking for a Biomedical Research Technician who recognizes the following points:
- You are a highly motivated cell biological/biochemical (research) analyst who has passion for working in the lab.
- You have an HLO education, with preferred background in cell biology, molecular biology and/or biochemistry.
- Qualification in accordance with art 13f.2 (possibly art 9) in the Animal Experiments Act is an important requirement for this position.
- You enjoy the challenge of working, together with colleagues, on state-of-the-art solutions.
- You have an eager to learn attitude focused on the common goal of developing innovative solutions applicable in industry.
- You have good oral and written communication skills in English, Dutch is a big plus.

The selection process
