Internship | Fine-tune AI Foundation Models on new modalities
About this position
Foundation Models (FMs) are the new frontier of Artificial Intelligence (AI) research. In our Biodiversity Digital Twin project, we need to adapt general FMs on specific use-case datasets, possibly involving different variables from the ones that the FMs are trained onto. This role involves deep engagement with large-scale Machine Learning models that serve as the backbone for a variety of AI applications, including natural language processing, computer vision, and predictive analytics with focus on Earth Science.
What will be your role?
Join our project team to:
- Use existing FMs to train on specific downstream tasks. You will be responsible for the fine-tuning of existing models on specific datasets that may require pre-processing.
The expected outcome of this internship would be:
- A fine-tunning technique that adapts FMs on specific downstream tasks of different modalities. This would include a validation pipeline for comparing the results of the fine-tuned FM with existing domain-specific models.
- We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a strong drive to deliver a tangible result. Apply for this internship if you are keen to develop and optimise large-scale ML models, implement and experiment with different Neural Network architectures, finetune or adapt pre-existing FMs, analyse and pre-process large datasets.
What we expect from you
You are enrolled in a Master's program in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Applied Mathematics or a related field. You have a good theoretical understanding and some practical experience in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Statistical or Generative Modelling. Proficiency in Python and familiarity with Deep Learning frameworks like PyTorch is a plus. A demonstrated ability to work on complex problems and translate research into practical solutions with excellent analytical, communication, and teamwork skills is also highly valued.
What you'll get in return
You want an internship opportunity on the precursor of your career; an internship gives you an opportunity to take a good look at your prospective future employer. TNO goes a step further.
