What will be your role?

Are you passionate about driving innovation in the field of heterogeneous catalysis? We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Scientist Heterogeneous Catalysis to join our team. In this role, your focus will be on the design, synthesis, characterization, and performance validation of novel catalyst materials. You will be working at two dynamic locations: the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven and the Brightlands Chemelot Campus in Geleen.

The role
As a Scientist in Heterogeneous Catalysis, your primary focus will be the catalytic conversion of CO₂ into valuable chemicals and fuels, particularly through photocatalytic and inductively heated catalytic processes. A significant aspect of your work will involve assessing the stability and performance of catalyst materials under fluctuating process conditions.
An affinity with reactor and process design is essential for this role. You will collaborate in an interdisciplinary environment, working closely with process and system engineers, sensor developers, ICT experts, and economic and environmental analysts to develop impactful solutions.

Your main tasks will include:

  • Technical coordination of research projects in the field of catalysis;
  • Coordinating the work of researchers and students in projects;
  • Development of new projects in your field of expertise (project acquisition);
  • Publishing and presenting your work, both internally and externally.

In addition to the tasks above, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring excellent coordination and execution of research projects;
  • Communication with customers / partners on scientific progress and project results;
  • New project definition and acquisition in your expertise;
  • Contributing to long-term development strategies;
  • Developing a network with academic and industrial partners.

What we expect from you

  • A PhD in heterogeneous catalysis or a related field;
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in the design, synthesis, characterization, and performance validation of novel catalyst materials;
  • Proven experience working in multidisciplinary teams with competencies in materials chemistry and catalytic processes;
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present findings in a clear and concise manner, both written and spoken;
  • A team-oriented mindset with the ability to take initiative;
  • A result-driven and customer-oriented approach;
  • Fluency in English (knowledge of Dutch or willingness to learn is a plus).

The selection process
