Senior Project Manager | The Hague
Make your mark on our time! Join TNO as a Project Manager in The Hague!
About this position
Your projects contribute to the development of knowledge-driven and reliable AI. You will lead projects within the Data Science Research Group. This department, based primarily in The Hague and Soesterberg, creates insights from large amounts of unstructured and often dynamic datasets. These datasets may originate from sources like the internet (e.g., social media and discussion forums) but can also include sensor data and transaction log files. We collaborate with our clients to develop new methods for analyzing large-scale heterogeneous data (text, audio, video, etc.), identifying connections, and discovering trends. Our focus is on making the entire information processing chain as transparent and fair as possible, from the data source to human decision-making. Additionally, we combine this with knowledge models that represent human and domain knowledge through methods like knowledge graphs. This combination of data-driven and knowledge-driven models is referred to as Hybrid AI. An example of one of our projects is the creation of a Dutch language model, comparable to ChatGPT, but based on European values, such as ethically sourced data.
What will be your role?
Do you want to play a role in fundamentally improving AI methods based on large-scale data and knowledge-driven AI? At TNO, you’ll take the lead in managing our knowledge representation projects and responsible and explainable data science projects. These techniques merge knowledge and data in large European and national projects or through collaborations with partners and clients across diverse application domains such as ICT, security, defense, government, or agriculture. Within the research group, we are increasingly using scrum methodologies. Due to the positive results, we aim to inspire more TNO colleagues to adopt these practices.
What we expect from you
Organizing and connecting come naturally to you. You have a strong focus on meeting client needs. Facing challenges? It’s only a matter of time before you solve them. With your experience and expertise, you ensure projects are delivered with high quality, on time, and within budget. You’re a connector who engages both your team members and external stakeholders. Switching between multiple projects and stakeholders is second nature to you, and administrative tasks don’t intimidate you. You’re also a true team player with excellent communication skills. Under your leadership, every team member finds the right place to thrive within the project. Additionally, you bring as many of the following qualities as possible:
- A Master’s degree (WO level).
- Preferably, at least 5 years of experience as a project manager.
