About this position
As a consultant in product & systems security at TNO, you’ll never have a dull moment. You act as a key connector, translating innovation into impact and serving as a leading figure in cybersecurity. Your field of work is broad, which suits you as a curious professional. You contribute to cutting-edge research projects, provide strategic advice to ministries and boardrooms, and build your own network to secure new research assignments. What will be your role?
Like all TNO colleagues, you are driven by content. With your expertise in product & system security, you connect us with relevant networks and innovations, assessing the technological aspects of new cybersecurity developments. You are well aware of the latest trends in both academia and industry. You actively monitor new advancements and know how to leverage them effectively.
You share our vision that products and services should be inherently secure by design, and you are passionate about bringing innovations to the market. You are committed to advancing the shift-left approach in cybersecurity. You have a vision for innovations in secure coding and application testing and feel the need to share this perspective so that our innovations reach the right stakeholders. You also maintain a broad view of the field and make new, creative connections. Your insights allow you to bring clarity in complex situations and steer research in the right direction.
As a recognized figurehead for cybersecurity innovation, you will become a familiar face within various organizations and working groups. Outside of TNO, you participate in consortia and panels and regularly give presentations on your area of expertise. Within TNO, you are the go-to person for cybersecurity. You act as the bridge between the Cyber Security Technology department and other divisions within TNO, tackling cybersecurity challenges in domains such as the energy transition, digitalization of the military, and vehicle security.
You will be part of the Cyber Security Technologies department, home to the top cybersecurity experts in the Netherlands. Your colleagues include junior, medior, and senior researchers, creating a dynamic and innovative environment. You can work from our headquarters near The Hague Central Station, the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven, or our office on the Zernike Campus in Groningen. You will find an open and collaborative atmosphere, with a team of intrinsically motivated colleagues.

What else you bring:
- A relevant academic background (preferably MSc or PhD) in (applied) mathematics, computer science, cybersecurity, or another related technical field.
- Knowledge of and experience with cybersecurity.
- Expertise in product, software, and system security.
- Proven experience in organizing public and/or private collaborations.
- A proactive and driven personality, with a strong intrinsic motivation to enhance cybersecurity innovation and make the Netherlands safer.
- Fluency in Dutch and English, as you will work with Dutch and European partners.

The selection process
Please apply before the 6th of April, 2025. The selection process comprises two interview rounds. In a final meeting we will discuss the terms of employment and your tailored benefits package. We aim to finalize the entire process within four weeks.
The selection process may include an online assessment and a reference check.
A certificate of Conduct (VOG) is required before starting a new job at TNO.
As you will be working for clients in the domain of defence and security, a Certificate of No Objection issued by AIVD (The Dutch General Information and Security Service) is mandatory. This means you will have to undergo a security screening. Read more about security screening.
