Whitepaper: Are Virtual Reality meetings effective?
During the Covid pandemic, millions of workers worldwide had to navigate the challenges of remote work. While video conferencing has become the new normal for collaborative meetings, emerging technologies like eXtended Reality (XR) are about to break through in the market and may reduce distances.
A key question surfaces: Can XR be used to improve meeting efficacy, and yet address some of the pitfalls of regular video conferencing? We delved into this question through our research.
TNO conducted a study to answer 3 key questions:
- How do people experience the technological, collaborative, and well-being aspects of work meetings in different settings (F2F, VC, and XR)?
- How are different meeting types (brainstorms, presentations, structured meetings, negotiations) viewed across these settings?
- What are the potential workplace impacts of widespread use of Social XR technologies?
