Autonomous abilities

Autonomous weapons systems are being deployed on an increasing scale, for example on the battlefield in Russia and Ukraine. The capabilities and security risks of these systems are high. Integration with manned combat systems is urgent and complex.

The operational effectiveness of autonomous systems depends heavily on their reliability and controllability at all tactical levels. If these systems underperform, malfunction or misbehave, they will hinder rather than advance operations. TNO therefore works closely with the Ministry of Defence and industrial partners to advise, specify and rigorously test intelligent systems. This ensures their robustness, reliability and dependability in dynamic combat environments and balances technological developments with organisational and process innovation.

Our in-depth knowledge of all aspects of autonomy enable us to best address security risks and bring capabilities from concept to frontline as quickly as possible . This is how we work with Defence to create a new strategic advantage.
