Conventional air defence systems can increasingly be bypassed, for example by drones and hypersonic missiles. A new comprehensive approach to defending against air and missile threats is needed.

The post-Cold War decline in international tensions led to an uncoordinated winding down of our air defence network. A new, rapidly growing and complex threat situation, clearly visible in Ukraine, underlines the importance of a coordinated reconstruction . In this, TNO works together with Defence, industry and knowledge institutes, for instance on radar technology, sensor technology, integrated tooling and data sharing solutions. Our bundled expertise and multidisciplinary approach leads to directly applicable solutions on the battlefield, but above all works towards the integrated and advanced air defence of the future. A unified picture and direction for defence against air and (hypersonic) missile threats is the main goal.

TNO strives in cooperation with Defence and its partners to be the best in this crucial domain. Together, we ensure that our armed forces can respond to threats faster and more effectively than anyone else.
