National security in the Netherlands: 5 themes in focus
Together with our partners in the security domain, we stand for a safe and secure Netherlands. And now that developments are accelerating, it is more important than ever to link existing technology to new innovations. Discover the five themes we focus on.
Developments within the security domain
Developments in the field of security are moving faster than ever. This is partly due to the enormous growth of information and the emergence of new techniques. Think of artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality and powerful sensors. These developments represent both an opportunity and a threat to the Dutch government and security organisations. That’s why together we contribute to safety and security in the Netherlands.

Joint forces is necessary
Within the security domain, we join forces to tackle security issues together. This includes the security of buildings and infrastructure, tackling nightlife violence and (international) terrorism.
Our key partners are the Ministry of Justice and Security and the affiliated national organizations such as the National Police, the Immigration and Service (IND) and the Custodial Institutions Agency (DJI). We also maintain close ties with the business community and other knowledge institutions, such as the National Coordinator for Security and Counterterrorism (NCTV) and the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee (KMar).
