Wind energy
To limit the impact of climate change, the Netherlands is working on an energy system that will not emit any CO2 by 2050. In this new system, a lot of renewable energy will be gained from the sun and wind. Wind energy will be the principal part of this, especially at sea. To accelerate the implementation of wind energy, TNO is supporting both the Netherlands’ public authorities and the energy sector with advice, research, and development.

Jan Willem Wagenaar
Functie:Program Manager Wind EnergyDr Jan Willem Wagenaar obtained both his master’s and PhD degree in physics. In 2009 he joined ECN as a scientist evaluating measurement data and in 2018 he joined TNO as a project manager. Over the years, he has worked in national and international projects on wind turbine testing, wind resource assessment and LiDAR. Currently, he is R&D portfolio manager on the research line ‘Wind Energy New Technologies’.

Harald van der Mijle Meijer
Functie:R&D portfolio managerIr Harald van der Mijle Meijer is a materials engineer and has been working in offshore wind research since 2007. Harald has a passion for wind, sea and sustainability and applies this for the strategy and implementation of the development of innovations in wind energy together with the industry. At TNO he has carried out several national and international projects on a wide range of topics. Over 15 years of professional experience on climatology and integration of renewables in the power system gained on different research institutes around Europe: Tecnalia (Spain), Danish Meteorological Institute (Denmark) and European Commission (Italy and The Netherlands). Always open for multidisciplinary discussions to have larger impact on innovation and solutions for industry.

Peter Eecen
Functie:Senior Business Developer Wind EnergyPeter Eecen is Senior Business Developer at TNO Wind Energy. In close relation to the TNO strategic roadmap on wind energy, Peter develops new markets, devises propositions and explores business models to realise innovations that will accelerate the implementation of wind energy. The innovations are developed in collaborative research projects, often public-private partnerships. Peter has a network of national and international partners and is active in the management board of EERA JP Wind. Peter works closely with TNO’s researchers and project managers and guides partners and clients through the project proposal stage in order to create impactful projects
