Diamond wire saw

With the diamond wire saw, we can precisely cut through many materials. Since the object can be mounted and after turning on the saw you can distance yourself, it is also possible to cut energetic materials. As the cutting is done with a wire embedded with diamonds, very hard materials such as ceramics and tungsten can be cut. For most materials, it is necessary that they can be wetted so that a coolant can be used.

Objects up to approximately 100 centimeters wide, 23 centimeters high, and 23 centimeters deep, weighing up to 20 kg, can be cut with the diamond wire saw. Usually, a 0.5 mm wire with 64 μm diamonds is used for cutting the items.

After cutting, the items are often further prepared with a grinding and polishing machine. After which they are analyzed with, for example, a digital microscope or an electron microscope.
