Description

Ultra-High Performance Liquid Chromatography (U-HPLC) is an advanced form of liquid chromatography used to separate components in complex mixtures. Identification and quantification of the separated components is in this system done with two detectors:

1) the PDA detector detects a broad range of wavelengths (UV/Vis spectrum) and can measure multiple wavelengths simultaneously. This allows the full absorption spectrum of each component to be analyzed, making it useful for identifying different compounds based on their UV absorption profiles.

2) the refractive index (RI) detector measures changes in the refractive index of the eluent as it flows through the detector. This type of detector is highly sensitive to compounds that show little or no UV absorption, such as sugars or polymers.

Technical details

System running on 0.5 mL/min 5 mM H2SO4 in MilliQ water at 35oC with 1 installed column: Biorad Aminex HPX-87H 390x7.8 mm

Applications

U-HPLC systems are widely used in the pharmaceutical industry, biotechnology, and food analysis due to their high efficiency, speed, and accuracy.
